Gene–Environment Interaction: A Variable Selection Perspective

چکیده
Gene–environment interactions have important implications for elucidating the genetic basis of complex diseases beyond joint function multiple factors and their (or epistasis). In past, G × E been mainly conducted within framework association studies. The high dimensionality interactions, due to complicated form environmental effects presence a large number including gene expressions SNPs, has motivated recent development penalized variable selection methods dissecting which ignored in majority published reviews on interaction this article, we first survey existing studies both gene–environment gene–gene interactions. Then, after brief introduction methods, review penalization relevant marginal paradigms, respectively, under variety conceptual models. Discussions strengths limitations, as well computational aspects tailored studies, also provided.

Sliced Inverse Regression with Variable Selection and Interaction Detection
Variable selection methods play important roles in modeling high dimensional data and are keys to data-driven scientific discoveries. In this paper, we consider the problem of variable selection with interaction detection under the sliced inverse index modeling framework, in which the response is influenced by predictors through an unknown function of both linear combinations of predictors and ...
متن کاملRegression Trees With Unbiased Variable Selection and Interaction Detection
We propose an algorithm for regression tree construction called GUIDE. It is specifically designed to eliminate variable selection bias, a problem that can undermine the reliability of inferences from a tree structure. GUIDE controls bias by employing chi-square analysis of residuals and bootstrap calibration of significance probabilities. This approach allows fast computation speed, natural ex...
متن کاملPatient-Provider Interaction: A Communication Accommodation Theory Perspective
This paper critically reviews studies that have interpretively invoked communication accommodation theory (CAT) for the study of patient-provider interaction. CAT’s sociolinguistic strategies—approximation, interpretability, interpersonal control, discourse management, and emotional expression—are succinctly introduced and their use in studies of patient-provider interaction discussed. The majo...
متن کاملGene selection: a Bayesian variable selection approach
UNLABELLED Selection of significant genes via expression patterns is an important problem in microarray experiments. Owing to small sample size and the large number of variables (genes), the selection process can be unstable. This paper proposes a hierarchical Bayesian model for gene (variable) selection. We employ latent variables to specialize the model to a regression setting and uses a Baye...
متن کاملInteraction : a time perspective
Interaction is central to a relationship and network framework, yet the concept is quite amorphous. One reason for imprecision is the lack of theory with regard to the way interaction works in time. Clarification of this nexus further develops the interaction concept and provides theoretical support for the dynamic view of business relationships and networks being developed by the IMP Group. Th...
